Two Designer Timeline

Fall 2020
The Two Designers timeline is a comparative showcase of the work and lives of two graphic designers, Ruth Ansel and Derek Birdsall. Ruth Ansel was the co-art director for Harper’s Bazaar for many years before moving on to other renowned publications such as The New York Times Magazine and Vanity Fair. Derek Birdsall was a British graphic designer well known for his Penguin book covers in addition to his work on serval magazines such as Town and Nova. One of his greatest contributions to the the world of graphic design is his book Notes on Book Design. The accordion book format offers the reader to view both timelines of the respective designers separately or compared together.


Jack Tufts is a multi-disciplinary designer from New Orleans, LA and currently based in Brooklyn, NY. He holds a MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and a M.Arch from Tulane University. As a designer, Jack has worked in the fields of architecture, graphic design, experience design, and strategy.
